I finished college about 5 years ago, and I’ve only really kept in touch with one person sporadically since then. She’s lived in a different state since 2019, so we haven’t been able to see each other in person for a long time. It’s been texts and phones calls now and then.

We weren’t close, but still connected well. I haven’t reached out to her since December of last year.

Today I was reminded of her when her tiktok channel popped up on my feed. She was talking about the work she’s doing now, pursuing acting in Los Angeles.

Seeing her made me want to talk to her, but I’m afraid to reach out since it’s been so long and I don’t really have a reason other than missing her.

How should I go about this?

  1. I find that most people really love to be reached out to. I’m sure she will greatly appreciate a simple “Hi! I know it’s been awhile but I’ve been thinking of you, how are you doing? What have you been up to?” And let the conversation roll from there. Or, if there were any inside jokes or you think of something/find something she would find funny, send it to her and let her response guide the conversation.
