by the way I already know the different genres of humor its not that I don’t know how to be funny its the fact that I don’t know what to say to be funny and I am painfully unfunny is there a way I could get funnier or is it just innate and there’s nothing I can do about it.

Any people who had this problem and solved it, How did you do it?

FYI I have social anxiety

“Remove the filter” – this might work but I haven’t done it yet because I don’t know if removing the filter will make me funnier or not, so I’m hesitant to try it because there’s going to be guaranteed tons of awkward moments if I remove the filter.

“Listen to what they say” – Thats kinda obvious i already do this so i dont need this advice

  1. Watching stand up comedy shows helped me, especially improv ones. It kind of exposes you to their witty way of thinking, vocabulary, comebacks etc.

    But most importantly, take off the pressure. If you go into every social interaction thinking “what’s the funniest thing I can say rn” – it’s just going to stress you out even more. Humor is spontaneous and is often about the first thing that pops in your brain, and having the confidence to say it. It’s hard to be funny when you’re anxious so don’t beat yourself up if you didn’t have anything humorous to add to the conversation.

    If you can remove the filter – do so. I bet it’s plenty awkward as it is right now, it’s just going to be a different type of awkward. One that you can evolve from.
