What is your favorite “secret ingredient”?

  1. A splash of Worcestershire sauce in canned tomato soup makes it taste way better. It’s my dad’s secret ingredient for making the perfect grilled cheese lunch.

  2. I love ranch seasoning! I put it eggs, hamburger, steak and really anything that isn’t sweet. It’s so yummy!

  3. Jarred bell peppers.

Add them to soups, stir-frys, sauces, anything that can use a little sweet and salty flavour. Dump the brine in too, for extra flavour.

  4. Ve-tsin, the secret ingredient of many Asian dishes. Better known as MSG. Use in small amounts, just a pinch. It’s the compound which causes things like Worcestershire sauce to act as a flavor enhancer. It enhances the “umami” of the dish.

Also, just a dash of cayenne pepper. I blame chef John for this.

  5. Peruvians love a lot of lime juice and some salt in their salad with a dash of cumin, so good

  6. I’m vegan, so nutricional yeast is my go to. But even non vegans can benefit from its high nutritional value and mild cheesy taste when added to pretty much any soup, dip, scramble, you name it.

  7. I make famous delicious crepes. Besides the usual things someone would find in a crepe recipe I always add a “secret ingredient”. But there is no secret ingredient😂. I just get the bowl to the fridge, hide it behind the door and pretend I am adding something.

This stupid thing started as a joke when I was 10 and no one has figured out to this day that there is no secret ingredient. People still ask me frantically.
