I’m pretty close with this person, we’ve been friends for 3 years now. He’s made a bunch of friends through another friend of his. They are practically his friends now.
He’s said a couple times that he should invite me to their next hangout, but never actually does. My sister says I should just invite myself, the worst he’ll say is no.
But I don’t want to overstep any boundary he may have so I don’t know if it’s rude to just be like “hey what are you doing this weekend” “oh that sounds fun, can I tag along?”

Just ask.
Naturally people dont like or think of mixing friendship groups.
Its just not what they are used to, and the thought probably popped up in their heads. So just ask and see what they say.
