As someone with social anxiety. I’m more on the relaxed side. I don’t have much to say usually. I have a coworker that seems to talk to me somewhat cheerfully, he likes to just ask mundane “How is it” or simple things. he’s an older man but when I respond to his question, he doesn’t reply back to me. Yes my tone of voice probably doesn’t match the more cheerful or upbeat tone of usual people, but it was at the end of the work day and I was tired. I notice with these questions he’s probably wanting to start a conversation and I know I’m not giving much to work with but when I notice he doesn’t respond back I try to elaborate on my answer but the other thing I notice, his ears get really red when I talk to him. Not because he’s so nervous to talk to me, he maintains eye contact but it makes me feel like I’m doing something or not doing something for his ears to turn red only when he talks to me.

Is this my worry to have how he might be feeling? I notice this with some people, not sure why.. maybe I don’t seem engaging in a conversation but I’ll notice there ears turn red only when they talk to me and I always wondered why. When this coworker is talking with someone else he looks fine but once we are talking together, his ears were getting bright red..there’s a million maybes I can think of..like I seem uninterested (which I am) but why would anything I feel make his ears red?

Could if be an intimidating thing?
