I’m going for a fancy, black tie wedding on my own (groom is a friend I see about once every three months). I half-know about 5-10 people which weirdly makes it worse. I wish I didn’t know anyone. Any advice being quite possibly the only solo invitee trying to make the most out of the day?

  1. Eat. Semi socialize. Eat cake. Thank bride and groom, if possible. Leave. Fastfood? PROFIT (in your best Vince McMahon voice).

  2. If you’re worried about being uncomfortable, be mindful not to drink too much. Social anxiety easily becomes drinking (too much) to relax and then drunk assery.

People at weddings are always mingling. There’s always someone who wants to chat. You’ll be great.
