Could be an American artist or any other musician / band.

  1. Petey has been running my playlist lately. Sadly I just missed seeing him last night because I herniated a disc. 😭

  2. My favorite artist ever is the Mountain Goats, and always will be, but I don’t think their current material, while good, is among my favorite artists going now. Aside from other long time favorites of mine like Fiona Apple, Jason Isbell, Queens of the Stone Age among others, I’ll give a shoutout to some maybe less known bands/artists going right now I really enjoy:

    – Stella Donnelly

    – Pool Kids

    – Origami Angel

    – The Beths

    – Algiers

    – Turnstile

    – Deafheaven

  3. The Mountain Goats and any side project John Darnielle does.

With my daughter it is Taylor Swift and Hamilton not because they are my number one choices but they are up there in the rankings and because she loves them they’re now top 5 for me.

  4. Lately, I’ve been super into a new Canadian band called Lowheaven. Their debut EP just came out a few months ago and they’ve only released 5 songs but it’s all really damn good. Check it out if you’re into heavy music – it comes out absolutely *swinging* right out of the gate so you’ll know pretty much immediately if it’s your thing or not haha.

Actually got really lucky and got to see them at one of their first dozen or so shows. We get pretty much everyone here in Baltimore on a long enough timeline, but I had expected I’d probably have to wait a while before they did any shows outside Canada.

  5. Forever and always (no song title pun indented) will be a Taylor Swift fan

But right now, I’ve been listening to a lot of Chappell Roan. The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is the best pop album to come out in years. Has made me a major fan

  6. Brasstracks is who I’ve been listening to the most.

    Jazmine Sullivan is wonderful.

Tank and the Bangas are great too.

I’ve been listening to Fall Out Boy more recently too.

  7. Good ol My Chemical Romance.
And Lovejoy, the band that’s only notable for being in Brighton and nothing else, let the past be forgotten!

  8. Caitlin Cook, not the music specifically (still good music) but how she makes the music is what I love about her, she takes bathroom graffiti writing and turns it into lyrics. Her reasoning behind using it is quote “Since writing on bathroom walls is neither for critical acclaim nor financial reward, it is the purest form of art”
