I have just woken up to the sound of dripping/leaking running water in my walls

It is getting worse and worse (i cant see any wet patches on ceiling or walls yet)

my boiler is also leaking … i turned off my water but the leaking still happening

can i call 999?

  1. You definitely should *not* call 999.

    Is there any emergency contact for your building management? If not, you need to call a plumber.

    As you live in flats, this might be the responsibility of the freeholder, but you’re not likely to get hold of them at 4am for help. If it is your boiler, then it’s your responsibility, or your landlord’s if you rent. If you’re really worried, you might have to get a plumber out yourself and if you rent, try and claim the cost back later.

  2. FYI 999 is for ambulance, fire or police. None of those do plumbing work.

    Building management or if your renting, landlord or agent. If you own, plumber.

  3. Don’t call 999 unless someone’s in danger of death. Which they aren’t.

    Call a plumber? If you’re renting, call the landlord?
