Sorta later in life. I took one year off after highschool and when I entered college everyone I knew was so much “ahead” of me. I lost all of those friends and felt like a failure since I wasn’t “at the same level” as my peers.
I already had a degree in the field but after working several years I wanted to gain more knowledge and pursued a Masters in a related field. I had a much better understanding of what I enjoyed, how the industry operates etc. I’m glad I returned several years later even though it was tough and I had peers way younger but way ahead of me academically speaking. Luckily in my country uni is free so it wasn’t end of the world financially speaking.
