Usually during classtime, there is a good chunk of time between assignments where people are free to talk to the people at their table, and I’m having a hard time starting conversations, and much more so maintaining them and making them interesting. I can tell that the people sitting with me are somewhat interested in having conversations, but I just don’t know what to say.
Any tips?

You can just start by talking about the class! Asks if they got something you didn’t, ask what they thought of it, how their assignment is going etc.
