Thoughts on a drum mishap

So, I practice drums in my colleges practice space, which is just a bunch of electronic kits in a room. Anyways, I needed to learn buzzrolls, so I looked up just a video on how to do them, and I found a video titled “Nail a BUZZ ROLL with this special grip”. Whatever right? But then this dude walks in, looks at what I’m watching, and just starts giving unsolicited drum advice. Like how I need to study Jojo Mayer and his dvd, or how my seat height was wrong, or how my kit was set up wrong. And without me saying anything like “hey can you teach me how to do this?”. And mind you, this dude has been here before, and last time, I told him that I was thinking about doing a career that involves music, and he spends like 20 minutes laying out how that’s destined to fail, and I should do something else. Thoughts?
