One Question, is Amtrak App universal for all American train?

2. What train are you looking at?

   Amtrak is nation wide so the same app will work in New York for Amtrak trains. There are commuter trains and other smaller regional trains separate from Amtrak that you can’t use the app for though, but they go much shorter distances.

3. If it’s an Amtrak train, it’ll work. You can’t use it to book a trip on the subway or a CSX train.

4. If you can find it on the Amtrak app, it’s bookable. You will not find certain private intercity trains (Brightliner) or regional, city-based rail systems (Metra in the Chicago region, MARC or Virginia Express in the Washington capital region, etc.).

5. Use the Train Time app when you’re in New York. I’ve had better luck with it than going through Amtrak.

6. The Amtrak App works for all Amtrak trains in the United States and Canada. However, it will not work for other passenger train companies like Brightline in Florida or VIA Rail in Canada, they have their own app.

7. If it’s Amtrak, it’s the same app. But if you’re taking regional commuter rails or subways, it’s different.

   Taking the Amtrak cross country is an AMAZING trip. Take the California Zephyr from San Francisco to Chicago. The section from SF to Denver through the Rockies is the most beautiful in the world, and you can only see it by train. Then from Denver to Chicago is not as scenic, but still get to see the Great Plains.

8. It’s universal for all Amtrak trains. However, it might not work on certain local and regional routes.

9. If it’s an Amtrak train you’re trying to book, the app will work everywhere in the country. But there are local trains and transit options that wouldn’t be available through Amtrak.

10. You’re fine. It works for trains in the Amtrak system. It won’t work for other train systems.

    The US doesn’t have a single nationalized train system for everything, so once you get to NY you might need a different app to get around.

11. The app is good nationwide for any Amtrak train.

    It will not work for city or regional train networks like subways or commuter rail even though sometimes Amtrak and regional commuter rails use the same track and stations.

    In NY if you are in the NYC area you can use Amtrak but you are probably better off using the MTA (metropolitan transit authority) app which is for the NYC area subway and commuter rail to all surrounding areas. Amtrak may service some of the same routes depending on where you are going.

    Amtrak focuses more on inter-city connections while local commuter rail focuses more on shorter public transit types of networks often for commuting to and from work.

13. It would be universal for all Amtrak trains in America. There are smaller train lines that it would not be applicable on.
