A couple of years ago, I got all the kids up at 6am to go an see the Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 locomotive that was staying over night nearby. After it pulled out, we raced ahead to a crossing to stand by as it passed at speed. I was jumping up and down and going crazy and screaming. Continuous fist pumps in the air as it went by. I was laughing and giggling. My kids didn’t know what to think. Evidently, while wife was debriefing them, had never seen me act so crazy. This was like meeting a favorite rock star for me. What say you? What brings out that inner child in you?

  1. Ice cream trucks

I grew up broke in the country, I went to a major urban area and an ice cream truck turned the corner and sat down to sell and I was giddy as all could be

  2. Watching cartoons I’m 21 and still love rewatching ben 10, fairly oddparents, Danny phantom, Jimmy neutron, teen titans, Steven universe, justice league unlimited, Scooby-Doo etc… I always feel like I’m transported back into my 10yr old body when I rewatch my favorite cartoons. Also going to the state fair I went with my mom every year as a kid and even now I still have just as much fun.

  3. Without fail, any time I see they restocked Pokemon cards at the local target/walmart/etc, I get giddy and see if anything new and exciting is there

  4. Playgrounds. My son had a karate tournament at a parkour gym. He was quite surprised to see his 49 year old father throwing himself around on the course.

  5. Snow. I’m originally from S California, now in Denver. I LOVE snow. I go out of my way to stomp through fresh snow. And the cars all slow down. And it’s so quiet!

  6. I’m a very simple man.

Shopping carts. I make sound effects while going around corners inside the store when I’m shopping alone, I ride then out to my car while hauling as much ass as possible, I ride them back to their corrals when I’m done with then.

I get excited confused looks from children, knowing smiles from old men, and occasional “WTF” looks from women of all ages.

  7. My boyfriend.

The other day, we were talking about pokemon evolutions while he had the door cracked while he was pooping.

Honestly it was something that I’ll cherish forever, and it’s absolutely ridiculous but I loved it. He is the best.

Also we are both almost 40.
