How can crisps and noodles etc claim to be ‘Spicy Flavoured?’

Spicy is NOT a flavour.

And Nik Naks – ‘Nice’ is not a flavour either.

  1. I don’t understand. Nick Nacks have offered you the answer.

Us – “what does spicey taste like”

    Nick Naks – “this”.

    Us – “oh, nice”

    Nick Nacks “hold that thought”

  2. The term “spicy” typically refers to having a strong, pungent, or hot flavor, often resulting from the presence of spices or peppery elements in food. It can also describe something that is provocative or exciting.

Simple Google there for you mate

  3. Would you have the same issues for a food described as being sweet? Or sour?

    It’s that.

    Sweet Chilly dip.

    Spicy Chilly dip.

Normally it’s not entirely by itself, unless the food it’s describing is already clear though, or just very cheap XD

Spicy ramen, for example. It’s Ramen. And It’s spicy.

    Where’s the confusion?

  4. Spice is a sensation, not a taste. You can have no tastebuds and still feel spice when you eat something and you can also have issues with your nervous system and still taste everything else fine, but feel absolutely no spice sensation when eating hot food.

  5. When people think spicy they generally think chilli heat but cinnamon, nutmeg, mace, cardamom, fenugreek, all are spices that impart a spicy flavour without real heat

  6. Anything where if you put a spoonful of it in your mouth and it irritates your oral mucosa or respiratory system to me is a spice.

  7. Who cares? If something tastes as nice as Nik Naks they can name it what the fuck they like, IMO.

  8. If this bothering you can I recommend doing a deep dive on Monster energy drink flavour names.

As far as I’m away Monster Rosa does not contain rose but is actually berry flavoured.

  9. In the uk, judging by snacks/hot sauces/takeaway food, salt or tomato flavour is considered spicy

    yes, it’s that bad

  10. How is this a question? It’s the flavour of chili and various other spices. Spicy means it tastes of spices, the clue is in the name.
