So there’s going to be a geek/otaku fair here where I live and I wanted to go to meet new people, but as I’m going alone, I wanted to know how to create friendships at these events?

  1. It’s really difficult to create an actual friendship at a one-off event. That’s because it’s tough to judge if a person is even potential friend material from a single conversation. I’d say you might be lucky to get a contact or two, maybe exchange a number.

  2. Stay calm. Be as clean as possible. Find someone who is dressed as a character you like. Find things you want to see and talk with people dressed as characters and/or looking at things you like. Smile if you like someone. Make sure to tell them your name. Think of things to say about what you like before going.
