I am working on a “dad-themed” project and want feedback beyond my husband’s. We’ve all seen the “hot mess mom” stuff. My husband says that dads probably don’t want things that will blatantly express their insecurities, even if its sarcastic or humorous. My husband is a big softy but he’s also not the most emotionally excitable person. He’s just unnaturally calm in most situations. So I just wanted a different perspective.

Ex: “this dad runs on _______ and _consistent stress”

Or is that a bit too sappy for dads?

  1. I’m not seeing the connection here. What anxiety and stress does he have to address if you say he’s not emotionally excitable and unnaturally calm?

I get that it is important to address and take care of those feelings but it just sounds like at least in your husband’s case that you’re trying to make something out of nothing?

  2. Idk about sappy. It just may not land as well given the audience

Instead of stress and anxiety, maybe have the humor based on finances (eg. everyone has the latest iPhone except dad) or free time (eg. no time for sports /sleep etc). I’m basing these two suggestions off of dad memes over the years

In fact, googling dad memes might give you some inspiration and a higher chance they’d be funny

  3. Your heart is in the right place and it’s nice you’re thinking of dad’s like that, but this isn’t something I would ever buy, and I’d probably judge a guy wearing that in public.
