How long have you been doing it/do you think it will take to complete? Do you think it will be revisited at any point in time or when you’re done, you’re done?

  1. I don’t know if this is what you’re looking for…

In June 2021, I decided to make it a personal goal to visit every US National Park (currently 63). To date, I’ve explored 21 (NOT including the ones I visited before making this goal).

I’m 38 and should reach my goal by 50 years old. I know this sounds like a long time, but many of the Parks in Alaska can only be visited by plane or boat; there are no roads to the park or trails in the park (ie Gate of the Arctic). In addition to the challenge of getting to the park, I will need to hire/pay a guide, too.

  2. I have lots of long-term cooking projects going on right now. Eggnog aging, ham, bacon, and guanciale curing, and sauerkraut fermenting.

  3. I have been learning a new instrument for the past 7 months. I don’t think I’ll ever be “done”, but I just joined a band, which seems like a good next step.

  4. Turning my woodworking scraps into a set of smoothly sanded blocks for my young nephew to play with. At this rate, it will make him a fine graduation gift.

  5. Doing the online part of yoga teacher training right now and will soon do the in person training, I’ve been casually doing yoga for five years now and am taking my training to the next level.

  6. I’m currently in the process of tattooing my entire body. The only exception is hands and neck/face, because I work in a corporate environment. Hands and side/back of neck aren’t completely out of the question though, as I’m seeing it more and more acceptable as the boomers die off. Throat and face are definitely never going to happen though.

Also slowly chipping away at visiting all MLB ballparks. I’m a third of the way through, with plans to visit Pittsburgh and the two New York teams this coming season.

Other less urgent plans are getting my motorcycle license, and buying a house. Although, buying a house is not going to happen until it becomes a buyer’s market again.

  7. Well, I was morbidly obese up until recently, so I’d like to put this newfound fitness to good use. Trying to run a marathon before 40, only 8 months left.

  8. I’m on a state commission and I’ve been trying to push through a project that I think would be really helpful to the demographic we represent. I’ve been having to call all the other commissioners and get quotes and we’re SO close to it launching. I really thing it’ll be a gamechanger in understanding what the community really wants vs only hearing from elected officials or community group leaders.

  9. Learning French, just under 1000 days in. Bit of a lockdown thing that I carried on with. C’est bon!

  10. I have a car (1986 Mazda RX7) I am restoring. I have been at it for 11 years. But there was basically no progress from year 2 to 10. My dad was diagnosed with cancer and ultimately passed away so my focus shifted to family. But I am still at it! The frame and suspension are done. I see it completed in 5 years.

I also share some of the other goals in this thread. Aspire to see all of the us national parks and all NHL arenas. I am about 1/2 way complete with both. Will probably complete the NHL arenas in 10 years. National parks will be well into retirement. So probably 30 years.
