My bf of 4 years seems to always have an odor no matter if he’s just applied deodorant, and he gets extra sweaty when he sleeps. We sleep with the fan on, and little blankets, but doesnt seem to help. I have no idea what makes him sweat more than normal, because he’s pretty healthy. I think it’s just the way he is.

What deodorant do you all recommend? Any other helpful tips?
Thanks

  1. First off, it may be a genetic thing. I think it’s called hyperhidrosis or something similar. Might be worth looking into it and talking to a doctor.

That being said, my best luck is with Mitchem. Important thing I learned from reddit is that you should put it on before bed. Shower, dry off fully, and then put it on. The aluminum in deodorant/antiperspirants (for one, isn’t bad for you. That is all marketing to buy other stuff) basically clogs the pores, but it has to be dry. If you put it on before bed, you stand the best chance of staying dry long enough to get the job done.

It isn’t perfect but it helps me a lot.

  2. I use Right Guard AP now. As a bonus it doesn’t stain my clothes like all the stuff I used to use did.

  3. Tell him to put baby powder on as well all over his upper body (lower body too) if he’s gonna go out for the day or something.

  4. Duke cannon antiperspirant deodorant. I put in on after a shower and before bed so it has time to soak in and do it’s thing before I go get sweaty at work the next day.

  5. One thing I did was start using Certain Dri. But not forever. Still use it on occasion. It can be powerful but your body needs to sweat. Then I worked toward lowering my blood pressure. Now I use Degree and occasionally mix it up with Certain dri and Arm and Hammer to keep from getting too use to one thing. Blood pressure made a big change though.

  6. Botox will stop him producing so much sweat. An acidic toner that you use on your face will kill the bacteria that cause the smell. Glycolic acid toner from The Ordinary etc.
