In a group work/debate whatever when you’re serious and someone start laughing (to make fun).

I was in this situation. I presented an argument and this girl started laughing and said it was light. I simply ignored her and stayed serious.

How would you do this ?

  1. it depends on quite a number of things, doing what you did can be perfectly normal. i have done the same. ive seen colleagues or friends done the same. sometimes if you need to push through your case and you feel youre being interrupted by those people. just imagine for a second they don’t exist. you can light or jokingly go “Shhhhhhh”

if theres a moderator person you can stare the for a second like this šŸ˜ and theyll get the hint to give you time to talk.

  2. In the moment just move forward and donā€™t dwell on it. Later, reflect on what you said and figure out what it is that made the person laugh about it. Was your argument weak, outlandish, irrelevant, etc.?

Work on making better and more appropriate arguments to avoid the situation entirely.

  3. You did right if someone can’t take your point seriously ignoring is the best you can do coz they’re not seeing the problem or opinion as something important so it’ll be a waste of time and energy to convince them.

  4. Was your point perhaps bad?

Like imma be honest with you, most people suck at making good arguments.
