I’ve been told many times that I’m blunt and my facial expressions tells everything I’m working on fixing being blunt but idk how to fix the facial expressions. I never want to purposely offend anyone but always do on accident. I have a very expressive face, my mom is the same way.

If people ask for my opinion or are telling a story they can I always tell how I really feel (bored, judging, disapproving) or what I’m thinking by looking at me. I also don’t know how to be fake if I’m in a bad mood or don’t want to be somewhere or uncomfortable it’s easy to tell even if I’m not saying anything rude. it’s basically hard for me to fake the funk. People can guess my exact thoughts/feelings it makes me feel so bad.

I really want to fix this but idk how, any advice?

  1. 1) Practice your “poker face” and “polite interest face” in the mirror.

    2) Practice thinking kinder thoughts, so that boredom, disapproval, etc don’t show.

  2. First off, I want you to know that having an expressive face is not necessarily a bad thing. It means you’re genuine and transparent. However, if you feel like your expressions are constantly offending people, there are a few things you can do. One, try to be aware of your reactions and practice controlling them. Two, work on your active listening skills and show empathy through your body language. Lastly, communicate openly with your friends or loved ones and let them know that you may unintentionally appear judgmental or bored, so they have a better understanding of where you’re coming from. It takes time and practice, but you can improve!
