When a new person joins an environment where everybody already knows each other(for example joining a new class, workplace, group etc), how are they supposed to fit in?
What is the “etiquette”- are the other people supposed to welcome them and introduce themselves or do they just go about their day and its the newcomer’s own responsibility to try to fit in and approach people?
Are the other people in the wrong if they don’t go out of their way to welcome the newcomer? I’m not talking about them being mean or ignorant, just not paying that much attention to the new member.
