I’m a 20 y/o (f) and have had period sex once with an ex boyfriend (only during the last days of my period)- and to be honest it was the best sex I ever had. I found a new partner and he’s willing to try it, but I have only done it once and was wondering if anyone had any advice?

  1. Use a condom, makes cleanup a lot easier. Put a towel under your butt if needed and just hop under the shower afterwards.

  2. Lay down a thick towel or two beforehand. You can use dark-colored condoms (e.g. Lifestyles Tuxedo) if the visual of blood on a condom grosses you out. Avoid really deep penetration if your cervix tends to get more sensitive during your period (which is common).

  3. Period sex really isn’t a big deal at all for a lot of people but you only hear about it being “controversial” or anything because the folks who talk about it are the ones who have concerns about it. “Period sex is fine” people aren’t as conspicuous

    Just have a convo about what folks are comfortable with and meanwhile, the only thing you should have is a towel underneath so you don’t stain your bed.

    Beyond that depends on your respective comfort level.

    I never had a problem with tasting blood or seeing blood so a condom wasn’t something I needed and I had no problems having sex or giving head to someone on their period. I just did a quick initial wipe on the towel then hit the shower.

  5. I am in the UK so not sure about elsewhere but we have beppy sponges that are tampons you put high up and can have sex including oral. That’s my top tip for period sex. And I tend to feel a bit tender so prefer gentle sex at this time

  6. You could try something like the Nixit menstrual cup, which is positioned higher than other cup styles and is advertised to be used for sex.

  8. Menstrual discs are magic. You can have sex with them inserted, and there’s no mess, maybe a spot every once in a while but I’ve never had an issue

  9. Aside from the mess it is some great sex sometimes. Been told it helps with relief of cramping. Good hard fuckkng

  10. Do it in the shower or put a towel down and then shower after! Even in the middle of my period I don’t bleed a ton during, I have bled during sex more randomly than when I am on my period 🤷🏽‍♀️
