I (20f) got my boyfriend (20m) of 11 months a chain necklace for Christmas , but I gave it to him early since I’ll be with my family then and would’ve be able to give it to him later.
We had an argument then happen a few days later. To do with finances. I’m a student, and prior to me moving in with him he agreed to take care of rent etc since he works full time. Argument has a lot of raised voices from us and some pettiness. He then asked in the future if I will be paying 50/50 for the rent etc. I said no. See I though he meant next year or so, which I’ll still be studying and won’t be able to pay for rent. He then told me to leave and pack my things. He then proceeded to take off the necklace I got him. Which hurt. Bear in mind he’s had suicidal thoughts and when I got him this gift he cried a lot and was happy.
I call my dad, start packing and get ready to go. On the phone with my dad , he’s hugging and holding my hand. He says he regrets saying what he said. He then gets upset and tells me he meant as in wayyy later in the future down the line like 10 years or so, if I would be paying rent. I was confused and by then already packed everything and had to tell my dad to not pick me up since he said there was miscommunication.
TLDR
He told me to leave after I said no to paying rent, through what I believe is miscommunication. What are your opinions? Should I just move away and break it off fully?
