I’m a second year college student atm, and every day I wear the same thing (hoodie, jeans, vans). I want to try wearing something new, but I have absolutely no fashion sense. I was wondering if there’re any good tips for fashion out there

  1. I wear black. I’ve get compliments on my “style” despite knowing that I have zero fashion sense.

  2. 1) accessorize. watches, belts, bracelets, rings. mix and match it up and add a lil flair

    2) over tops. whether its light coats, zip ups, or button ups, just add a bunch of stuff you can throw on top of a t and jeans and itll add a number of combos to your closet

    3) pants. get some jeans but also get some regular chinos. fold a cuff at the bottom. black,, grey, khaki. boost your combos even more

    4) jacket. for when its colder, get ONE really nice jacket. like invest in something very nice that can be your defining look. youll always have hoodies and the throw over but the nice jacket will go a long way.

    5) bulk buy Ts. graphic, base colors, bright. just buy a shit ton of Ts.

  3. You do you. Fashion only exists within your perspective. Confidence is the key to pulling off any look.

But NEVER mix Adidas with Nike.

  4. Stop buying one off trendy pieces of clothes over basics and classics and you’ll always have more stuff to wear!

  5. There are light jackets that you can use instead of a hoodie and it would be more stylish. Have a pair of casual shoes like a gray or white sneakers. Avoid cargo shorts. Collared shirts over t-shirts when going out. I usually just use t-shirts for sleeping, workout out, and lounging at home. Spend the time to style your hair. This should help get you started.

  6. Just wear what you like loved one. Also get fit, if you have a nice body and look good naked all clothes will look good on you.

  7. The only thing I can say is have a matching outfit and don’t cross brands

  8. Finding the right fit is important. If you’re looking for shirts, try on similar shirts from different stores. You’ll be surprised when you find the one that looks better on you

  9. U just wanna get clothes that fit you and body really well. Anything that’s baggy or too tight will not look good, just go for clothes that for your body correctly but aren’t too big or too small. When u get clothes that fit, they highlight the features of your body much better.

  10. there’s a monthly subscriptions you can get where they send you trendy clothing based on your personality type. They have boxes specifically for dudes.

  11. Good fit, quality over quantity and get items that go well together. If most of your shirts work with most of your trousers and most of your shoes/boots, then deciding what to wear is very easy, and you can do many outfits from a small wardrobe. Then all you need are a couple of jackets/coats for different weather and nice accessories like belts, sun glasses, watched, ties, scarfs, etc.

Basic colours that work well together are white, light blue, olive green, beige, brown, navy.

I’d say a decent college wardrobe could be something like

Pants: 1-2 jeans (1 blue, 1 grey), 1-2 chinos (olive, beige). A pair of shorts for summer if you like.
T-shirts: some white, and some other solid colours if you like.
Shirts: Oxford button down shirts are fairly casual. 1 white and one 1 blue.
Jumpers: A couple of crew neck cotton or merino wool, maybe navy, maybe brown
Shoes: Some nice, white sneakers. Brown leather boots.
Outerwear: Anything from overshirts to leather jackets to pea coats to field jackets are good. Navy is nice. Dark olive works too.

Noe you have a very very basic wardrobe, but everything can be combined in any way, and if the items are nice and fit well, you’ll look presentable for most occasions.

But you should have fun in college and if none of this sounds appealing then rock whatever the hell you want. That’s awesome.

  12. Imo the most important thing is that you buy clothes that fit, don’t wear oversized stuff, make sure your pants are the right length. The difference in how you look in even a basic button down shirt the fits well or is a size too big is incredible.

Shoes and belt have to match.

  13. Nothing beats a faded, worn out PlayStation shirt and a pair of worn out jeans that are two sizes too small.

    Gets the ladies evry teim…

  14. “hodie, jeans, vans …. I have absolutely no fashion sense”. True that.

Look at the middle (working, really) class in Western Europe, specifically France, Spain, Italy. Keep it simple, quality fabric, and adapted to the season and activity. Never wear a sports hat, or any hat or sun glasses indoors. No shorts (there are proper trousers for summer use).

  15. To avoid cringing at old photos of yourself. Dont buy into fad styles.

Also never buy into the fashion industry idea of you need new the newest thing all the time.

  16. you do you. Fashion is fun for many and that’s ok.

For me, I tend to stick with classic pieces. I was doing the ‘capsule wardrobe’ for decades before it because a trend so I buy quality pieces that I can mix/match and they remain ‘in style’ (at least my style) for years. This has also allowed me to save lots of $$ because the stuff I wear is always ‘relevant’. I literally have not bought any clothing for myself since my 20s and I’m 46 lol.

  17. * Get your jeans tailored.
    * Find what you look good in and go all in on that.
    * Don’t wear 3+ non-grayscale colors.
    * Keep things simple.
    * Buy high quality clothes once rather than cheap clothes several times.
    * Chucks and jeans are timeless.
