And by iconic I mean that no one else, in any other country, would recognize it.

Because no one else does peanut butter like us, and I’ve never seen the wonderful combination of a celery stick filled with peanut butter anywhere but the USA.

  1. Ritz and Cheez-Whiz. Pop-tarts. Tortilla chips & salsa/dip. Bagged/tinned popcorn. etc.

Also celery is the grossest-tasting vegetable. Other contenders: cauliflower and almost all squashes plus eggplant.

  2. My grandmother (94yo) makes celery with cream cheese as an appetizer, sometimes she puts ground walnuts on it. It’s really good and super old school, like from the 1920s. I grew up eating it, and now I make it with whipped cream cheese and everything bagel seasoning as a low carb/low cal snack.

  3. Dude you have to put raisins or dried cranberries on top. It’s called ants on a log. Besides the taste the raisins balance the textural extremes of celery snap vs PB grease.

  4. I don’t know how common it is but in the same vein I would slice a banana lengthwise and put peanut butter on it and put the halves together before cutting it into bite size pieces. Also apple slices and peanut butter or pretzels dipped in peanut butter was a good snack.

Squirty cheese in a can and crackers.

  5. Root beer floats; somewhere between a beverage and a snack. Most other countries hate the taste of root beer.
