I’m an environmental scientist. There are so many countries I’d rather be working in than the US. Here I feel like I’m trying to help people avoid environmental regulations instead of helping lessen environmental impacts. I wish I could immigrate I wish my g-g-grandparents hadn’t left Ireland, Scotland or Austria. I respect the conditions they were trying to escape (pre ww1 if it matters) but man things might have been easier if I were born there instead of the US.

I’m curious what life is like for environmental scientists in other countries. Do you feel like you’re making a difference? Do you feel like you’re fighting a culture that sees you a net cost instead of a benefit? If so, how do you keep at it?
