Backstory: There is a group of coworkers at my job that are extremely cliky- like, separate group chat, separate meet-ups, etc. What complicates this is that I find myself to be close to a few of the members of the group. I often refer to them as “your group” because that’s how clicky these people get.

Today, one of the people from the group (not as close with this member) told me that thy were all going for drinks after the office on Monday and I think it was an invite. I was very thrown off as they typically only spend time with each other.

So, I’m thinking of casually asking one of the members I feel a bit closer with if it’s ok that I come. If so, how should I pose the question?

This group is quite difficult to penetrate and I am worried i will be the odd man out. Another option is to skip it entirely and ignore the invite. But, I’d hate to miss this opportunity to see people I am close with just because I am so intimidated.
