As I’m growing up into adulthood, I’m starting to find myself quite a bit, especially in clothing and fashion. I’m into gothic/ punk fashion which usually utilises a lot of things like revealing tops, short dresses and skirts, fishnets, collars and other stuff too. But the other day when I was out dressed as I normally do, and overheard some guys talking in a queue behind me. I didn’t hear the whole conversation, but I did hear “if you’re gonna wear that in public, you’re definitely asking for it”. It kinda grossed me out because they started laughing afterwards, and I felt conscious about my outfit for the rest of the day.
I guess my question here is, am I to expect more reactions like that if I dress in such a way? Because it’s not like I dress to try and turn people on. My biggest fear lies in that maybe someone might be weird enough to touch me inappropriately or treat me differently, just because I wanna wear what I want.
