My name is Leon, and I just turned 18 recently. Yes. Eight. Freaking. Teen. Unfortunately, I’ve come across a few issues;

One: I’ve had a Junior ISA which I recently withdrawn all of the money to my NatWest account, but since my NatWest account is/was an Adapt (an 11-17 year olds account) and will be changing to a Select (basic bog-standard bank account) soon, but before I’m able to go to the bank, I just wanna know, will I have a new account number, or will it stay the same? A lady at the bank said that the card will stay the same, but anything else, I didn’t ask about.

Two: I am *still* looking for work and persevering with rejection after rejection (Its basically no pain no gain to me) but while Universal Credit is going to start as long as everything is A-OK, what is next to do? I will be moving to a different accomodation (I was semi-independent since 16, but I’m moving to a shared lives accomodation in Somerset where I live) and so on.

Finally, Three: Do you have any tips on how to start building credit from scratch? I’m currently applying to be on the Electoral Register (that way, my address and stuff is confirmed), but if I do change emails, do I have to let the council know?

TL;DR: 1 is about a bank account ‘transition’ from a Minor’s to an Adult’s account, 2 is about Universal Credit and employment ideas/advice and 3 is about building credit.

Yes I will be going to the bank today, but since its nearly 6am at the time of posting, my bank is shut ’til 9:30pm.

Update for Question 1: I’ve been to my bank and everything will remain the same account-wise. The number, sort code and everything will stay the same, just will be able to do overdrafts and the ISA money should come soon safe and sound.
