What is something that happened recently that gave you faith in humanity?

  1. An old lady was trying to buy a ticket for the bus but she didn’t have change, she was desperately trying to search her purse for change and there was a crowd behind her waiting to get on. She apologised and a girl behind her assured her there was no rush. After a little while of searching for the money still, the girl told the driver that she would pay for the old lady’s journey. It was a really sweet gesture and it was just nice to witness! You could tell how thankful the lady was.

  2. How the local community rallied around us after the fire in my block of flats.

We evacuated at 4am, by 7am the community center was open and volunteers from the community were making us breakfast, they cooked us lunch and dinner as well. They stayed until 9pm when the last of us left for the hotel. They gave us bags of snacks and drinks to take.

During those 3 hours of waiting outside the flats we shared what he had. I had socks and slippers so I gave my socks to someone without. Another resident gave my daughter his hoodie because she was in a t-shirt. Those who grabbed their keys let others stay warm in their cars, I was one of the few to have my phone so I let people make calls.

At the community center people brought us bags of clothes, toiletries, snacks, drinks, phone chargers, baby stuff and pet food.

Local nurses ran around getting emergency prescriptions.

A local coach company arranged transport for us when it was time to go to the hotel.

At the hotel a wedding party heard what happened and donated bags of clothes and left envelopes with money in.

On our first day home after a week I opened the door and there were bouquets of flowers on all of our doorsteps with a message about giving sunshine to us when our skies are grey.

People have a great amount of kindness and compassion in them and it deeply touched all of us to know that in our hour of need we were cared for.

  3. A plane load of Ukrainian refugees arrived in town on Tuesday and people are practically tripping over each other to find ways to help them settle in and welcome them to Canada.

  4. I just learned about r/auntienetwork. The people in that community are willing to expend their time and efforts to help others, simply because they understand how vulnerable and in need of help others are.

  5. The sheer amount of aunties and uncles volunteering to help unhappily-pregnant people “go camping”.
