Children paying rent…
Parents, do you charge your Kids rent? And if so how much? And why?
And if you live with your parents, do you feel that’s fair? If not why?
I was born in England, so were my parents. But we’re Indian so I don’t pay rent.
I do pay bills though. I feel more comfortable with this though. Nobody asked me and my brothers to pay bills but we do.
My dad still pays the Mortgage and for Sky, but we pay the gas, electric, water etc.
Just feels more comfortable paying bills rather than rents. I’d feel like an outsider paying rent, like my home isn’t my own if I did.
Paying bills makes me feel like I’m contributing to the pot. Paying rent feels so transactional where as paying bills feels like I’m helping the family.
Opinions?
