(From a Romanian perspective) An expat I know (that lives in Switzerland now) said a coworker once overheard her talking on the phone telling a friend something like “sure you can drop by later, yeah I have some wine, don’t worry about bringing anything”.

The coworker was shocked and bewildered that she agreed to plans so abruptly and asked if she didn’t think it was rude for the friend to even ask that instead of giving a 3-day notice at minimum. And apparently everyone in the office agreed that it’s really weird and intrusive to make spontaneous plans, without time for the host to prepare.

For further context – all people are in their 30s-40s, most of them with no kids.

We laughed about the story, for us it’s very normal among friends to make plans to hang anytime, whether it’s next week or just “we’re free tonight if you are too”.

I’m curious what it’s like for other countries and also, if any Swiss people can confirm the story or was it more of an outlier?
