Boy Scouts (rebranded as Scouts I guess to be inclusive) always sort of seemed as American as apple pie but I recently watched a documentary on the sex abuse they covered up and helped perpetrate, and apparently they have declared bankruptcy to avoid paying out the victims.

So… to the average American… is image of the Boy Scouts permanently tarnished? Are they as popular as they were? Are they political targets for “grooming”? Since they had to declare bankruptcy I would assume a lot of assets had to be liquidated so maybe they really don’t exist much?

Or are the scouts kind of like a lot of community organizations… just kind of gradually decline with time.
