I’ll try not to complain about the many ways public institutions get their money in Denmark (well, I already failed). It’s the end of another Christmas season with the old folks not understanding how import taxes and fees work, what can be done for gift-givers wishing to pay all VAT and handling fees?

This year my wife and I paid upward of 2000 Danish crowns to receive gifts. We’ve tried to educate and plead for gift-givers not to send from the States but… they’re old.

As far as I understand, IOSS is only for businesses. Ideally, gift-givers would bear all costs, including the dreaded handling charge (160 DKK) if Danish customs so much as looks at your package.

Can they walk into a UPS or FedEx in the USA and say hey, we would like to send this to Europe, please charge us everything? What sort of language would they need to use if so?
