I’ve been with my boyfriend for 2 years and we’ve been living together for the last year. For Christmas, he bought me a piece of furniture for our kitchen which I’m super excited about…but he’s refusing to actually build it.

Listen if I’m being an AH for having this expectation, give it to me straight…but I feel like it’s a bit insane to gift your partner a piece of furniture and then refusing to assemble it for them? When we first moved in together, I surprised him with a new gaming desk and I quickly assembled it by myself before he came home so he could enjoy it immediately. It never crossed my mind to give it to him in pieces and then go on to say “figure it out I’m not helping you build it”. It’s really frustrating that he’s pushing back on it and refusing to help me put it together. It’s honestly selfish. I’m really big on teamwork too, so it’s not like l’d force or demand him to do it by himself.

How would you guys go about this ridiculous situation w/o starting an argument??
