I had a weird experience on a cooking sub, where US people seemed bamboozled that I neither have nor want a kitchen scale and that I am fine with relying on a [measuring jug](https://images.1a.ee/display/aikido/store/6000788a7d3d60f3897c8f9232bbd56a.jpg) for the rare recipe that uses gr instead of ml.
Nobody in my family (Estonia) has a kitchen scale, other than my grandmother has an old one – I only know, because we used it for weighing newborn kittens! It was never used in the kitchen.
Trying to understand if it’s just my family or a EU-US difference.
