I know men will not ask for help when they need it especially when they too prideful.

Context :

A mutual friend from high school who wasn’t really a friend until he lost all his friends. We hung out and he admit he misses his original friends but was an asshole. He was adopted so he automatically feels he isn’t wanted so he will not ask for help. He was homophobic when I initially met but now he calls me family. I would definitely hang out with him since he recently got divorced, lost his friends, got laid off and behind on his mortgage.

Here is the thing, I want him take the initiative to reach out to me instead I reach out to him. I can see him throw it in my face that I “like him” because I check on him. Should I continue to check on him or wait until him reach out to me?
