Yes Minister is basically when a new government gets elected to power, and the minister shows up trying to get what they want put into policy, but the civil service shows them why their ideas are stupid or infeasible, and giving the ministers the harsh wakeup call that they depend on the civil service to do what they want to do. My dad loves this show.

Blackadder is a historical comedy where a person is put in a set from some historical situation, the British’s version is from the 1490s, the 1560s, 1649, the 1810s, and 1917, who is very good at wordplay and devising ways to get out of sticky situations, often contrasted with an idiot who accompanies them as an assistant of some kind and a pool of other characters almost as stupid as the assistant who do the other vital roles in society like being one’s commanding officer in the trenches of the First World War, the prince the protagonist is the butler of, etc, but who do those roles in some remarkably stupid ways like Elizabeth I of England being far too prone to executing people for the most pointless reasons, being someone who orders fruitless attacks doomed to fail, and general pandemonium. This one is probably my favourite television show of all time.
