To give you a bit of background, my bf has chronic back pain and has to take painkillers on a daily basis.

A couple of months ago we planned our first trip abroad to Morocco early this June for a week for my birthday and we’ve talked about it numerous times, we even talked about it last night with his mum.

This morning his dad invited him to Amsterdam to see an exhibition in early June which would collide with our holiday to Morocco, however, my boyfriend without skipping a beat agreed and was super excited about it. After asking him why did he agree, he said it would be fine because the exhibition would start 2 days after my birthday. After reminding him that we’ve spoken yesterday about our holiday and how could he so easily forget about it, he immediately blamed it on his painkillers.

I understand that painkillers have a negative effect on your memory, but the fact he forgot about our first holiday together did hurt (no puns about painkillers please) even though it was recently mentioned and he doesn’t seem to grasp that. Maybe it wasn’t significant enough for him and he simply forgot and now he’s blaming it on his painkillers to defuse the situation?

TL;DR my boyfriend forgot we planned a holiday and blamed the memory loss on his painkillers, but I’m not sure if I’m buying it.
