I was watching [this video of a Joe Lycett comedy routine](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wS261_AGAoM) and he does an impression of someone who he considers to be a bit of a jobsworth at 4 mins, 15 seconds in.

I’ve noticed that there’s a stereotype where this kind of voice is associated with boring, jobsworth type people.

Why do you think this is?

Is this perception unique to the UK?

  1. For me it’s reminiscent of your stereotypical class nerd – a few of the nerds at school genuinely spoke like that – I’m guessing perhaps others noticed the same thing and worked it into films / jokes / routines and from thereon the idea took hold?
