No.
No. We all understand the definition but we might question your usage?
Nah, it’s a bit dated. I might jokingly use it as someone in their mid 30s which means it might be slang belonging to someone now in their 40s or even 50s.
In AAVE it’s relatively common.
The last time I heard that word unironically was in this song:
Who’s that gigolo on the street
With his hands in his pockets and his crocodile feet
Hanging off the curb, looking all disturbed
At the boys from home, they all came running
They were making noise, manhandling toys
That’s the girls on the block with the nasty curls
Wearing padded bras, sucking beers through straws
Dropping down their drawers, where did you get yours
[Gigolo, huh, sucka](https://youtu.be/JWsRz3TJDEY?si=jxFOxidn55XYC2pO)
Gigolo, gigolo, huh, sucka
Probably less common than fetch but more common than streets ahead.
Cory who?
Depends: Can you dig it?
I’m pretty sure “sucker” has been slang for someone that’s easily deceived for a long time. A mark.
“Sucka” was slang more common from the 70s-80s, especially in Black American slang. It has its moment in hip hop “sucka free!”
I don’t think it’s common anymore as slang with the emphasis on pronouncing it as “sucka” unless done so ironically. It’s like a throwback to 70s Blaxploitation flicks or 80s hip hop.
Calling someone a “sucker” isn’t too uncommon though.
I think it is 1970’s slang
Yes lol
My buddy and I use it sometimes when we’re clowning on each other, but I don’t know anybody else who does
No, afaik it’s outdated slang. I’ve only heard it used out loud once, on some old random movie previews for an old comedy literally called “I’m gonna git you sucka” lol.
Only in some places and with drastically less emphasis.
Some people tend to pronounce that trailing “er” sound closer to an “uh” sound.
In the 70s/80s, people were overemphasizing this pronunciation shift for effect [edit often times these people didn’t pronounce other “er” words this way which makes it sound cringe]. Today you’ll still hear it in some accents, but they’ll shift all the “er” sounds.
Alas, no.
However, I will use it more now.
I still hear it all the time.
Wrestling fans around the world associate that word with Booker T.
No.
I’m an NYU film school graduate, sucka!
Lmao my instructor would use that word all the time. I say it now sometimes
Haven’t heard it used often since the 90s. Used to be common.
Only when I’m speaking in reference to the 1988 classic, I’m Gonna Git You Sucka.
Yeah…if you go back to the mid to early 2000s
Not in a very long time
For black people yes
You might get something close from Brighton Beach & other Russian enclaves
Suka (сучка) is a Russian curse word
But for sucker … From my limited personal experience — I couldnt tell you the last time Ive heard anyone legitimately use it
The first person I thought of was Mr. T: “I pity the fool! Don’t be a sucka!”
Very 1970s black noir film word. I hear it and I think of that genre of movie.
It’s uncommon enough that I actually thought you were talking about the Russian word “сука”, which has made its way into a lot of internet memes.
i haven’t heard that phrase in a whileeee
No. That’s an 80s word
– source: Gen X 🥹
“sucka” was 70s.
My 6 year old son says it all the time.
If you are Booker T in the WWE.
Only if you’re a FIVE TIME FIVE TIME FIVE TIME FIVE TIME FIVE TIME WCW CHAMPION, NOW CAN YOU DIG THAT, SUCKA?
Coryxkenshin is still alive?
But also no, that hasn’t been a thing since the early 2000s and even that’s pushing it by a lot.
“Sucka” is an 80’s black slang word, made popular by Mr T. Fell out of use in the 90s.
I’ll say it sometimes
I use it all the time and these responses are making me feel old.
Only when I’m talking about sucka MCs
A sucker is a fool who is easily misled. Cultists, Trump supporters and people buying time sharers are suckers. You’re easily sucked in.
Sucka is just a form of that. “I’m gonna get you sucker” (great movie) is more like “i’m going to get you fucker” even in the context of the movie, in polite terms. I’m in my mid40s and can use it without seeming an anachronism. Young people fall for scams more often than old people according to research, maybe they should learn what a Sucker is again.
i would lmao if someone said that to me
no, it’s older
If it was only widely used in the 90s in gangster rap
Phrases like “you suck” or like “this sucks” sure, but saying something like “sucka” I’ve only heard in a satirical context. (Like referencing a movie or something) No one actually says that.
I’m Gonna Git You
