I (M37) just got an angry message from a woman (F39) I went on a first date with on Saturday. She broke things off because I didn’t message her yet. I told her I intended to call her tonight to setup another date, but she said she never has experienced such cold behavior and it’s just common courtesy to message someone you met and had a good time with. What is interesting to me is that the women that I have been out with usually message me the same night, and of course I respond. She waited a day and a half and then only messaged to break things off because I didn’t message her. Seems like a bit of a double standard in her world view IMO, which is sometimes justified between the sexes I guess. I don’t know, I guess everyone is different, but I have waited 4 days to message someone and gotten a second date before. I will say she is not from the US originally, so perhaps it’s just a cultural difference. Sucks though, because I did like her.
So, what do you all think? Should a man message the night of or the day after a first date if he hasn’t heard from the woman? How long is too long to wait? Is there a too soon?
