I’m from NZ my idea of American politics is formed from social media, including you tube and American TV shows. So:
1. It gives the impression that America is divided into left and right. Every issue is either left or right and if you are left you will fight to the death for all left issues and the right for theirs.
2. Americans are continually fighting amount themselves about politics such that you don’t have friends or even gatherings of mixed left and right people unless you really have to.
3. In the unusual circumstance such as where a family of mixed left and right has to meet, you don’t discuss politics as it will all end badly.
