I am filling my Tax return for 22/23…
During that time I had 2 sources of income, being employed and self employed.
When filling my return, on the NIC Class 2 it asks me whether I want to pay voluntary contributions.
There are some notes but I am not getting a thing really!
It says that if my net income is below £6.5K I need to pay only to secure pension. If my income is between £6.5K and £12K I will be treated as they are paid. And if they are above 12K I have to pay obviously.
I was wondering what do they mean by Net Income. The money I got from self employment work is around 2 810 which is below the threshold. This added to my PAYE income adds to 7356.70 which gets me to the group where I don’t need to pay voluntary… Please do you have any idea how should I do this because I am completely messed up..
