We’ve been together for 7 years and have always had some underlying communication issues. We don’t have huge fights we just clash sometimes. I get passive aggressive, she can be blunt, we both misunderstand each other’s intentions a bit. They’re things we’ve been honest with each other and ourselves about and understand it’s not good but it’s something we’ve continued to work on.

Lately however it’s gotten a bit worse. We’re both in a stressful period of working and saving money for a clear goal we’ve laid out ahead of us, and I think that plus using a lot of marijuana and drinking every weekend has put us in a rut. We both feel pretty distanced from each other and have petty arguments and aggressions towards each other nearly on a daily basis.

I think we need some sort of exercise, like a refresh or even an audit on our communication methods so we can identify areas we keep clashing and get back on track to improving our communication. I’ve found that relationship exercises and games also just make us feel closer to each other, whether it’s something more serious like this or something fun like the newlywed game.

Tl;Dr looking for exercises to help strengthen communication.
