Throwaway for obvious reasons. Reposted to add TL;DR at the bottom.

My (32F) coworker (49F) almost every day will put herself down, often unprompted, in response to me being myself.

If I dress up nicely it’s comments about her body and her appearance

I am a hybrid athlete and train 5-6 days a week with running and lifting, when this comes up it’s something about how she can’t or that would be too embarrassing for her.

Last night I got my nails done and this morning it’s straight to she could never have long nails because she’s too stupid to not hurt herself or something.

Has anyone else dealt with this type of behavior? What was done to rectify it? It makes me extremely uncomfortable because it is almost always her saying something just upon seeing me. I understand she’s obviously fighting demons but I’m over being the one subject to this constant insecurity when I’m just showing up to work as my authentic self.

This has been going on for probably a year or so, we have worked together for more than 6 years. We have a great working relationship, we get along great and do stuff together outside of work.

TL;DR: My coworker insults herself unprompted in response to me just doing my thing. I am over it and looking for any kind of advice.
