Hi! I hope this is a question I’m allowed to ask here. I’m a 24F and I’ve been best friends with a guy for three years. I love him to death and we’ve been through it all together so I really want to get him something thoughtful.

A bit about him: he’s a very sensitive (in a good way) man who’s been figuring himself out for the last couple of years. He loves music, going to the movies, dungeons and dragons, and he just started playing his instruments again (guitar and piano). He’s someone who appreciates thoughtful gestures a lot and he needs to feel a little extra love from his friends sometimes to really feel like he matters. Which I would gladly do, obviously.

Hope you guys can help me with some ideas!

  1. I don’t really know your budget, but you say he’s playing his instruments again. Perhaps a nice guitar strap? [Here’s a DnD-themed one!](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1025504096/role-playing-game-guitar-strap-board) Or speaking of DnD, perhaps a dice tower? There are many different sorts out there, but [here’s a cool example](https://www.amazon.com/Dice-Rolling-Experience-Accessory-Tabletop-Gamegenic/dp/B09FKG838F?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER). Those are getting very popular these days.

  2. Does he value more experience or possessions? If he likes music you may take him to a nice live show of a band he likes.

Limited edition merch or records of his favourite musicians may also work.

  3. I’m with the person who said Legos. I was actually looking at a Lego set on Amazon the other day and some other company sells an LED light kit for it, you might see if you could pair something like that together, it seems like a fun combo.

I’m pretty sure that’s what I’m buying myself for my birthday this year, and I have real similar interests other than not being able to play an instrument. Though I tried very hard at piano and guitar, I’m just tone deaf and I have a learning disability that makes reading sheet music very difficult, so I was never much good.

  4. You know him better than we do. You say he’s your best friend. You should be able to come up with much better ideas than you’ll get here.

  5. How much are you spending ?

If you are looking at $100 or so, the Positive grid spark go is a great idea, its a small guitar amp with an app that has 1000s of music style setups on it, there is a desktop version the spark mini for 230 and a 40w version the spark 40 for 300.

If youre sub 50, build him a bundle with a nice strap, strings, picks and stuff.

A nice mid ground is an effects pedal if he doesn’t have one, a reverb or overdrive from boss or similar is about 80.

Anything beyond that budget, you need to be brining him shopping or buying a voucher,.

  6. If he owns an actual piano pay to have it tuned/serviced. Try to find out his favorite song/ composer and find some sheet music or guitar tabs. If he’s getting back into piano and guitar sometimes a few refresher lessons from a pro or even an online course can help to knock the dust and rust off. You can order custom guitar picks with his name or just about anything on them, my cousins did this for their wedding favors as the groom is in a band ordered 100 picks from Amazon with their names and wedding date.
