As the title says. Got the partner a pair of Adidas ones, and they’re tiny, and tight af. He’s not keen on the “wide” selection on there, nor the Nike ones.

Where does nice, comfy trainers for the chonky of foot?

Thanks.

  1. I have size 15 feet, and extra wide. I buy New Balance trainers and feel thankful they exist as otherwise I don’t think I’d be able to have trainers at all.

  2. Ok this is me. Super wide feet (think Hobbit). Not going to lie to you, there’s not much choice. Skater style trainers tend to be pretty good but can be really daft looking. Currently I have 3 pairs on the go.

Globe Encore 2 are perfect. They are proper fitting to my size and nicely flat. They come in a few colours, aren’t too garish but not entirely boring either. They are my go-to for ease.

Puma *used* to do a chukka boot called Dr Clyde. They were amazing, again really comfy and well made. Basically I bought a few pairs (because I have to when I find ones that fit!). Now you can only get them occasionally on the ‘bay.
They did a 3 hole version (ankle height) and a taller one. Only the 3 hole were good.

New Balance do a few decent pairs and have a lot of selection. You can even narrow down your search to ‘wide fit’. They’re good but I still find I sometimes need to go up half a size and not all styles are wide enough. Plus they’re expensive.

Other skater shoes I’ve had over the years:

    Etnies

    èS

    DC’s

    Have all been good.

    Shoes to avoid!
Puma Suede’s. Gutted because they’re beautiful and simple.

    Most Nike’s

All Adidas trainers tend to be super narrow.

  3. I just don’t wear trainers. They just don’t make them to my foot shape. Boots are the best thing I find to get a decent fit. To get enough width in a trainer there can be upto an inch of empty space at the front. Its ridiculous.

  4. Mine are quite wide, I have the H fitting shoes from Clarks

I’ve gotten the same trainers for more than 10 years from reebok, same design just different colours and styles.

By the way, you want to get leather trainers not synthetic. Leather stretches and is breathable, synthetic doesn’t.
    Fabric works

  5. My son has wide feet. Skechers seem to work. There is a difference between the US & UK ranges though. Some of the outlet type shops (like the one in Oxford) do the US range.

  6. I don’t, I wear boots – trainers aren’t good for your feet, and they’re not too practical if you walk a lot. Plus the shape isn’t great for posture anyway.

My feet are H width, and I wear my boots half a size bigger than my actual size.

  7. I had a pair of ‘wide fit’ vans that lasted a while. Onto a pair of etnies now that are doing well. Both for £30/35 as I won’t pay 70. The double stitching helps as I normally have the issue of the sole sides breaking away from the fabric around where my toes flex

  8. Has he considered barefoot shoes? They’re awesome and fit all shapes and sizes.

  9. I have big/wide feet although I’m a size 12, so it’s at the limits of the ‘regular’ sizes you get in mainstream shops and websites. I’m a sucker for Adidas trainers. I’ve got over 30 pairs and I don’t have a problem with them. I usually get mine from Size?

  10. I have wide feet and need steel toe boots for work I got some for £40 from Amazon that are wide but still hurt my feet. I got some £15 ones from Amazon and there perfect.

Trainers are fine if I’ve wore them a few times.
