I paid my energy bill to EDF last month, but forgot to add my account number as reference. I realised the mistake immediately and emailed their customer support. Never got a response.

A few days later I contacted their WhatsApp support and sent a screenshot of my bank statement, which clearly states the money was sent to them. The agent said he would pass it on to the missing payments team. I thought that would be it.

However, a few weeks later I got a letter saying my bill is overdue. I contacted them again and was told, yet again, it would be passed on to the missing payments department…

I have now received my next bill and it includes January’s bill as still overdue. I’ve just about had it. I’ve paid the bill on time, I have provided evidence more than once as well as all relevant information for them to be able to find the payment. How hard can it be? Surely I’m not the first person to forget to include the account number?

Has anyone experienced this before and how did you resolve it?
