I rented a flat while at uni as a student 4 years ago. I moved out a year after I lived there with my boyfriend at his rented flat but never changed the address officially on my bank statements. I didn’t get a tenancy agreement at my boyfriend’s flat because I thought I would just stay there for a few months until my student visa expired and I would fly back to my home country but my leave in the UK had to be extended several times in phases because of travel disruptions due to Covid-19, so I ended up staying there for a year.

**I need to have a DBS(/PVG -I’m in Scotland) check done for a volunteering position I want to take on, and I’m stressing out about whether to disclose that I was living somewhere unofficially, for which I obviously have no documentation, or whether I should just use the address I was living at when in uni because that’s the address that I officially was living** **(bank statements show this address for the entire duration I lived with my boyfriend)**. Now, I know I was careless and never got around to changing my address officially but to be fair I didn’t know I would end up living in the UK for a year longer than intended due to Covid. As part of carrying out criminal records checks do they verify with your landlord how long you stayed at a rented property etc.? What do they do with a record of your addresses? Please, please help me out here!
